The 47th International School for Young Astronomers (ISYA) was organized from November 16th to 5th at the National Taiwan Normal University and National Taiwan University by the The Astronomical Society of the Republic of China (Taiwan).
We have received 34 students from Taiwan (11), Bangladesh (1), Iraq (1), Kazkhastan (1), Pakistan (1), India (1), Indonesia (2), Malaysia (2), Nepal (2), Philippines (4), Thailand (3), Sri Lanka (1) and Vietnam (4) who are pursuing Astronomy studies at the BSc/MSc and PhD level. They have been trained by a team of 12 lecturers from China, France, Japan, Norway, Taiwan and Spain.
The following photos have been taken by organizers and students during the school and give a flavour of the experience we had there.

Visit to the Astronomy Museum of Taipei, a fine example on how to do outreach for our students
Hike to Elephant Mountain
View of Taipei
And some more personal photos to share from a couple of outings at night and during my lats morning in Taipei:
A stroll through Shilin market in search for stinky tofu, with our Taiwanese guides and other international students. I think they enjoyed watching our reaction when we first tried it. It is only for the connoisseurs!
Shilin market is full of stands where you can sample local treats… yum!
A sample of dumplings for the group, for instance.
A well deserved treat when you less expect it. My friend Ale has been talking about these foot massages fro so long, I cannot let the opportunity pass.
Up we go Elephant Mountain: a rather strenuous exercise for such a warm day! And it is November!
The marvelelous Longsan temple, in the middle of modern buildings. Really worth visiting it.
You can spend hours here listening to the chants and mantras. What a privilege to be admitted and admire the place and their worship.
A Taiwanese breakfast, yes!
Wind marker, the wheels rotate faster and faster
View from the harbour
Street art at the harvour
it is 3D!
The wonderful tea-ship I found near the harvour. If I ever return to Taiwan this is a must. The selection of teas and the kindness of the shop assistants are wonderful.
Tea put to good use in my new Lohan tea pot, which replaces my last Chinese pot bought in Beijing, and sadly now broken
CKS memorial, quite impressive. I was not planning of visiting it, but I had a lost hour in the city and this was on my way to the hotel.
View from CKS memorial center of the national theatre and the national library. No time to visit those two, though!
