I am currently working at Centro de Astrobiología CSIC-INTA in Spain, where hold a Distinguished Researcher position through the ATRAE program.
I am on leave from Instituto Nacional de Astrofísica, Óptica y Electrónica in Mexico, where I maintain a C-class researcher position (equivalent to Full Professor).
I am also a member of the Sistema Nacional de Investigadores with level III (highest), and a member of the Academia Mexicana de Ciencias and The World Academy of Sciences of UNESCO.
I do research on Extragalactic Astronomy and Cosmology. I am the project scientist of the new generation panoramic continuum camera TolTEC for the Large Millimeter Telescope, and also the director of the International Schools for Young Astronomers of the International Astronomical Union.
I do research, lecture mostly at the graduate level, and train the new generation of scientists. I am a coauthor of more than 150 refereed articles, with more than 8500 citations. I regularly participate in international scientific organizing committees and evaluation committes. I, furthermore, participate in outreach activities.
